Progress Toward
Our Goal |
The House of Love Orphanage located in Chiang Mai, Thailand has fallen on hard times and needs $200,000 to keep the orphanage and all of its associated programs going in 2010, including:
- The House of Love Orphanage cares for 28 women and children many of whom are affected by HIV/AIDS
- The House of Blessing Day Care that provides free day care to Ethnic Minority parents, so they can work during the day and keep their kids off the streets at night
- HIV/AIDS Education provided to Hilltribes in the Chiang Mai Region
- The Christian Center for the Development of People with Disabilities provides care and education for disabled Ethnic Minorities in Thailand
We shot a documentary there last February (see the trailer below) and can vouch for the fact that this is THE REAL DEAL—they do good things for people. Because of their financial woes, we've put the film on hold for awhile, and are instead working to raise money to keep the orphanage going. Every penny goes to the care of these kids...for medicine and education—none of it goes to us. They help kids suffering from the effects of HIV/AIDS and poverty who simply have no other hope. We know that, reading this in the comfort of your own home, it might not seem real...but for these kids there is no safety net. Without the House of Love they will live on the streets and be exploited as prostitutes, or worse.
Since we don’t know anyone that can write a check for 200K (Oprah, Bill Gates...are you listening?). We are introducing My Dollar For Change: the first humanitarian fundraising effort ever to harness the power of the internet to change the lives of orphans affected by HIV/AIDS for just $1 per donor.
Here's how it works: We're asking for just ONE DOLLAR from every one of our friends (of course you can give more if you want to). Just $1—that’s not even a cup of coffee these days (Starbucks...are YOU listening?). Then, if you forward this your friends and they give a dollar…we’ll reach our goal in no time. It's really that simple.
Now, we're sure that people are already wondering if this is a scam. It’s not. If this is your concern, simply e-mail hopeforhilltribes@gmail.com and you'll get a personal response.
Or, if you’re really skeptical...e-mail us your phone number, and we’ll call you personally to plead our legitimacy.
Please consider helping us through one of the methods below. And if you have a few minutes, watch the movie trailer to see the faces of some of the real people you'll be helping.
We’ll keep updating this site to let you know how much we’ve collected. Thanks so much for considering sending your dollar to MAKE A CHANGE! |
